Box Score 2 ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Dominican (N.Y.) College softball team remained unbeaten in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play with a pair of five-inning league victories, 9-1 and 11-2, over visiting Felician College on Tuesday afternoon at the South Orangetown Little League Complex.
Junior designated player Tori Bradburn (Ridge, Md.) went 3 for 4 with two RBI on the day for Felician (9-17, 5-7 CACC), picking up half of the hits for the visitors in the doubleheader.
In Game 1, Bradburn gave Felician an early 1-0 lead, lining an inside-the-park home run down the right field line with two outs in the top of the second inning. The Golden Falcons held the advantage until Dominican (10-12, 6-0) tallied five unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth. The big blow came on a two-out, two-run single from freshman Alyssa Schwed (Kinnelon, N.J.), after Felician pitcher Kristen Tenwolde (Ramona, Calif.) (5-9) had recorded consecutive bases-loaded strikeouts.
With one out in the fifth, the Chargers received a two-run single from Kathryn Coles (Farmville, Va.). Fellow senior Victoria LaPorte (Washingtonville, N.Y.) followed with a two-run homer, ending the game on the NCAA 8-run rule. Dominican senior left-handed pitcher Delaney Childers (Johnstown, Ohio) (6-6) went the distance on a two-hitter, recording six strikeouts and no walks.
Tenwolde had seven strikeouts and allowed seven hits in 4 1/3 innings for Felician, while Bradburn had both Golden Falcon hits.
The Chargers took control early in the nightcap, breaking open a 1-1 game with seven second-inning runs. After the first batter was retired, Dominican saw eight consecutive batters reach base in the inning. The hosts produced six hits, highlighted by a two-run double from Julie Plante (Swansea, Mass.).
Dominican led, 9-2, after four frames before ending the game in the fifth on a two-run homer by Childers, who started in left field. The Chargers pounded out 14 base hits and survived three errors.
Charger freshman first-baseman Kimberly Ragazzo (Lawrenceville, N.J.) was 3 for 3 with a homer and three RBI and Childers also drove in three runs. Freshman righty Elizabeth Hogan (San Jose, Calif.) allowed one earned run in a complete-game four-hitter.
Sophomore Taylor Parker (Surrey, British Columbia) was 2 for 3 with a double and Bradburn had an RBI double in the second inning for the Golden Falcons. Kelsi Ludwigsen (Havre de Grace, Md.) picked up the only other Felician hit.
