Box Score CLEARWATER, Fla. – Sophomore infielder Scott De Jong (North Haledon, N.J.) drove in three runs and freshman designated hitter Brennan Price (Middlesex, N.J.) hit his first collegiate home run as the Felician College baseball team concluded its stay at The Winning Inning Invitational with a 7-3 metal-bat, non-conference victory over Cedarville University at Jack Russell Stadium. Felician (5-7) went 3-4 in Clearwater.
Felician junior left-hander Jack Fowler (Shrewsbury, N.J.) (2-0) started on the mound and carried a shutout into the eighth inning. He departed after putting two batters on with one out in the eighth, with the bullpen allowing one of the inherited runners to score. Fowler struck out five and walked one, allowing six hits.
The Golden Falcons, the designated home team, received an RBI single from De Jong in the bottom of the first. Ralph Caccavale (Massapequa, N.Y.) scored on a third-inning passed ball before Price connected for a solo blast to right field with one out in the fourth. De Jong struck again in the fifth, plating Aaron Brill (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and Caccavale with a one-out double for a 5-0 Felician lead.
Senior right-hander Stephen Paladino (Staten Island, N.Y.) entered to escape a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the top of the eighth inning to preserve Felician's 5-1 lead. Brill then provided insurance with a two-out, two-run triple in the bottom of the frame. Paladino surrendered a pair of unearned runs in the ninth, but finished for his first save of the season.
Felician leadoff man Gabriel Fellin (Temple, Pa.) was on base twice with a hit and a hit batsman and added two sacrifices. Sam Summerlin (O'Fallon, Ill.) and Chris Fox (Lancaster, Ohio) were each 2 for 4 for the Yellow Jackets (8-5).
