Box Score NEWARK, Del. – Wilmington (Del.) University scored four times in the last 10 minutes of the first half and four more in the first 10 minutes of period two to pull away for an eventual 17-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's lacrosse victory over visiting Felician University on Wednesday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.
An unassisted goal by senior Susie McKeever (North Fort Myers, Fla.) left Felician (0-6, 0-4 CACC) behind, 6-2, with nine minutes, 28 seconds, left in the first half. But the Golden Falcons did not score again. The Wildcats carried a 10-2 lead into halftime, then forced running time on scores from La'Dae Boykin (Edgewood, Md.) and Megan Card (Magnolia, Del.), the latter with 27:06 remaining in the contest.
Wilmington (3-8, 3-2) piled up a 41-8 shot advantage. Felician sophomore goalkeeper Kathleen Britanak (Toms River, N.J.) made a season-high 13 saves and added five ground balls. Wildcat goalie Maddue Hurm (Elkton, Md.) made four saves to earn the victory.
Freshman Liana Chirichiello (Waldwick, N.J.) netted Felician's other goal and led the defense with six ground balls. Golden Falcon junior Tainely Perez (Totowa, N.J.) registered three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Boykin (one assist) and Gabby Spalt (Forest Hill, Md.) (two assists) led Wilmington with five goals apiece.
