Box Score WEST CALDWELL, N.J. – Felician University freshman Liana Chirichiello (Waldwick, N.J.) scored twice, but the Golden Falcons were defeated by host Caldwell University, 19-2, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's lacrosse action on Saturday morning at Essex Valley School.
Chirichiello also led Felician (0-4, 0-3 CACC) with four shots, six ground balls, and three draw controls.
Caldwell junior Courtney Donlon (East Brunswick, N.J.) scored twice in the game's first two minutes. Teammate Pamela Schenk (East Moriches, N.Y.) converted a free position attempt with 25:51 left in the first half for a 3-0 lead, but Chirichiello made it 3-1 with an unassisted goal at 25:28. It was the first goal in the first half this season for the Golden Falcons, a first-year program.
But Felician could not hold off the Cougar attack. The hosts out-shot the Golden Falcons, 20-3, in the opening period and 39-5 for the day. Caldwell forced running time by taking an 11-1 lead with an unassisted Donlon score with 10:58 left in the half, and carried a 13-1 edge into halftime.
Felician sophomore goalkeeper Kathleen Britanak (Toms River, N.J.) was credited with eight saves.
Donlon topped Caldwell (4-5, 4-1) with five goals and added four ground balls. Schenk had a game high six points (4g 2a) to go along with six draw controls and four caused turnovers, and Cougar freshman Rachel Lucia (Egg Harbor Towship, N.J.) posted four goals, six ground balls, and six caused turnovers. Eighteen of Felician's 20 turnovers were caused.
Senior Susie McKeever (North Fort Myers, Fla.) had two ground balls and two draw controls and junior Berlina Cebien (Union, N.J.) caused two turnovers for Felician.
Caldwell was awarded 14 free-position shots for the game, making eight.
