Box Score LYNDHURST, N.J. – After an inaugural campaign of all road games, and two early-season 2017 snow-outs, the Felician University women's lacrosse team finally played the first home game in program history on Wednesday night at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. The Golden Falcons were defeated by Dominican (N.Y.) College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action, 17-0.
Sophomore midfielder Liana Chirichiello (Waldwick, N.J./Waldwick) led the defense for Felician (0-4, 0-2 CACC) with three ground balls. Freshman goalkeeper Megan Euler (Manchester, N.J./Manchester Township), who faced 35 shots, made nine saves and picked up two ground balls.
Dominican (3-3, 3-0) scored three goals in the game's first two minutes. Three consecutive scores by senior Haliann Fitzgerald (Walden, N.Y./Valley Central), the last with 8:45 left in the first half, gave the Chargers a 10-0 advantage and forced running time. Dominican freshman Alayna Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) tallied with 0:37 on the first half clock, and the visitors went into halftime with a 14-0 lead.
Fitzgerald topped Dominican with five goals and six points. Heegan and Katie Dascher (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream) scored three goals apiece for the Chargers. Dominican keeper Cara Moran (Tomkins Cove, N.Y.) earned the shutout with two saves.
Felician travels to Chestnut Hill College for a 1 p.m. first draw on Saturday.
