Chirichiello Breaks Women's Lacrosse Scoring Drought In Loss

LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – Felician University sophomore midfielder Liana Chirichiello (Waldwick, N.J.) scored two free-position goals in the Golden Falcons' 24-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's lacrosse loss to host Chestnut Hill College on Saturday afternoon at Victory Field #1.

Chirichiello, who picked up her first two scores of the season, is the career goals leader for Felician, a second-year program, with 13. On Saturday, she also led the Golden Falcons (0-5, 0-3 CACC) with four ground balls and three draw controls.

Chestnut Hill (2-7, 2-1) set the tone early when Rachel Perry (Gilbertsville, Pa.) converted on a free-position attempt just 47 seconds into the contest. With 8:10 gone by, the Griffins had amassed a 7-0 edge, and forced running time with a 10-0 edge with 13:28 left in the first half. CHC junior Erica McLaughlin (Magnolia, N.J.) beat the halftime buzzer to give the hosts a 17-0 lead at intermission.

McLaughlin scored again 11 seconds into period two. The Griffins led, 19-0, when Chirichiello put the Golden Falcons on the scoreboard with 19:02 to play. The goal ended a scoring drought of nearly 227 minutes for Felician. CHC added three more markers before Chirichiello struck again at the 3:34 mark. The Griffins scored at 1:30 and 0:06 for the final margin.

Freshman Andrea Hill (Monroe, N.Y.) picked up two draw controls and freshman goalkeeper Megan Euler (Manchester, N.J.) made eight saves with two ground balls for Felician. CHC out-shot the Golden Falcons, 36-6, for the day, including 25-4 in the first half.

Perry finished with four goals, three assists and five draw controls for the Griffins. CHC senior Hunter Leckonby (Charleston, S.C.) turned in four goals, two assists and six draw controls, and Samathan Herron (Cinnaminson, N.J.) accumulated two goals and five assists.

Felician returns home to face Nyack College in CACC action on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Lyndhurst, N.J.
