Box Score LYNDHURST, N.J. – Post University netted six consecutive goals late in the first half to key its 15-8 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's lacrosse victory over host Felician University on Saturday morning at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. The game marked the conclusion of the 2017 season for both sides.
Freshman goalkeeper Megan Euler (Manchester, N.J./Manchester Township) broke her own Felician record by making 23 saves. The Golden Falcons' eight goals matched the program record for single-game scoring, and freshman midfielder Andrea Hill (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) tied her own individual Felician standard of six goals. The score marked the smallest margin of defeat this season for the Golden Falcons (0-12, 0-9), a second-year program.
Junior Tainely Perez (Totowa, N.J./Passaic Valley) and sophomore Cassidy Charles (Irvington, N.J./Newark Tech) also scored for Felician. Hill added four ground balls and four draw controls and sophomore Liana Chirichiello (Waldwick, N.J./Waldwick) put up two assists, two ground balls and three draw controls.
Post junior Toni Deren (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfields) scored the game's first three goals. Hill tallied at the 23:14 mark and Perez followed at 20:33. After the teams alternated scores to make the score 4-3 in favor of Post, the Eagles rattled off the next six goals over a period of 14 minutes, 33 seconds, of game time. Senior Nicole Evans (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) and freshman Leona Stevens (Kingston, Mass./Cardinal Spellman) had three goals each in the decisive run.
Felician picked up the final two goals of the half, including Charles' buzzer-beater, cut the Eagles' edge to 10-5 at halftime.
Post regained control by out-scoring the Golden Falcons, 3-0 over the first 14 minutes of period two. The Eagles led by as much as 15-6 before Hill scored twice in the 55th minute for the final margin.
Deren led the Eagles (2-12, 2-7) with seven points on five goals and two assists, and Stevens also recorded five goals. Junior keeper Savannah Schwack (Manorville, N.Y.) earned the victory with nine saves. Post piled up a 44-19 shot advantage.
Felician completed 2017 with 30 goals and 10 assists after recording 15 goals and no assists in its inaugural season a year ago.
