LYNDHURST, N.J. – Felician University sophomore goalkeeper Qamar Smith (Carteret, N.J./Rahway) set a career high with 17 saves and matched another with four ground balls, but could not prevent her team's 20-6 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's lacrosse loss to visiting Holy Family University on Thursday night at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.  The game was a make-up from a snow-out on Mar. 24.

The Tigers (2-9, 2-4 CACC) outscored Felician, 10-1 in the second half. The Golden Falcons' only marker after halftime came from freshman defender/midfielder Emileigh Esposito (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South) and represented the first goal of Esposito's college career.

Senior attack Rose Bachmayer (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) had a hand in half of Holy Family's scoring, registering seven goals and three assists. HFU junior midfielder Devon Felix (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) scored four goals and controlled 12 draws. The Golden Falcons (0-10, 0-6) received two goals each from sophomore Christianna Louzan (Manchester, N.J./Manchester Township) and freshman Malikah Croom (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South).

The Tigers never trailed, opening up a 4-0 lead after four minutes, 42 seconds, of play. Louzan's two goals sandwiched one by Bachmayer, making the score 5-2 with 17:41 to play. Scoring continued at a rapid pace as Bachmayer beat Smith twice in the next 56 seconds, only to see Croom answer on a free-position shot. With 16:20 left in the first half, HFU led, 7-3.

The visitors were ahead by that same margin, 9-5, when Felix, who had scored the game's first goal but none since, converted on a free-position opportunity at 2:32. HFU carried the five-goal advantage into halftime.

The Tigers took control in the early stages of period two. Bachmayer tallied 12 seconds into the half, and a pair of successful Felix shots extended the lead to 12-5. The game's next four goals were all scored by Holy Family junior Dana Trevito (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) over a stretch of seven minutes, 10 seconds.

Esposito freed herself and found the back of the net with 13:47 to play, but three more Tiger scores down the stretch provided the final margin.

Holy Family accumulated advantages of 46-12 in shots, 25-8 in ground balls, and 19-8 in draws. Senior Amber Frechette (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) went the distance in goal for the Tigers, making five saves. Freshman Jashima Brathwaite (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Hollywood Hills) had a goal and led Felician with three draw controls. Three of Smith's saves came on free-position shots.

Felician next plays on Saturday at 10 a.m. against Dominican (N.Y.) College in Orangeburg, N.Y.
