Esposito, Adamo Find Cage But Golden Falcons Fall

NEWARK, Del. – Felician University sophomore midfielder Emileigh Esposito (Beachwood, N.J.) tallied her first goal of the season and freshman midfielder Valerie Adamo (Hicksville, N.Y./Hicksville) the first of her career, but the Golden Falcons were defeated, 20-3, by host Wilmington (Del.) University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's lacrosse action on a sunny but windy Wednesday afternoon at the Wilmington University Athletics Complex.

Sophomore Malikah Croom (Sicklerville, N.J.) also scored for Felician (0-6, 0-3 CACC). Golden Falcon freshman Jordyn Juvelier (Centereach, N.Y.) recorded one assist and three draw controls. Sophomore attack/midfielder Delaney Steele (Magnolia, Del.) had a hand in half of Wilmington's output, registering four goals and six assists.

The Wildcats (5-6, 2-1) put the ball in the cage three times in a 28-second span to lead, 6-0, with just over 7 ½ minutes gone by in the contest. With 14:35 left in the first half, Wilmington moved ahead, 10-0, forcing the NCAA running clock. Croom spoiled the Wildcat shutout with 4:36 left in the first, making the score 13-1, but Wilmington found paydirt twice more before the first-half buzzer.

The Golden Falcons played even with Wilmington, 2-2, in the second period until the hosts grabbed three markers in the game's final 8:03.

Wilmington out-shot the Golden Falcons, 35-12 (including 26-7 in the first half), and converted all four of its free-position attempts. Wildcat sophomore Taylor Lambeth (Townsend, Del.) had three goals and three assists, and classmate Brooke Siebert (Felton, Pa.) turned in two goals, two assists and nine draw controls.

Adamo, making her collegiate debut, topped Felician with three ground balls. Freshman Jada Blaize (Jamaica, N.Y.) collected a team-high five draw controls. Junior Megan Euler (Toms River, N.J.) went the distance in goal for the Golden Falcons, making 12 saves and adding two ground balls.

Felician treks to Lakewood, N.J. on Saturday for a noon draw against Georgian Court University, one of the CACC's early co-leaders.
