Juvelier Nets Four But Women's Lacrosse Outscored, 20-7

Box Score

LYNDHURST, N.J. – Felician University freshman Jordyn Juvelier (Centereach, N.Y./Centereach) scored a career-high four goals and classmate Valerie Adamo (Hicksville, N.Y./Hicksville) recorded a school-record three assists, but the Golden Falcons were defeated, 20-7, by visiting Caldwell University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's lacrosse action on Tuesday night at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.

Junior midfielder Arden Kassaleh (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock) tied her own Caldwell record of 10 goals. Teammate Samantha Murphy (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock) set a Cougar standard with 13 points – eight goals and five assists.

Felician sophomore Malikah Croom (Sicklerville, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) tied the game at 3-3 by converting a free-position attempt with 19 minutes, 37 seconds, remaining in the first half. Kassaleh, however, gave Caldwell (2-9, 1-3 CACC) the lead for good by winning the ensuing draw and scoring 11 seconds later. Nineteen seconds after Kassaleh's goal, Jessica Collum (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) found the cage for a two-goal Cougar edge.

The 5-3 score held for nearly seven minutes of game time. The contest's next three goals all came from Murphy, the last with 6:11 showing, and Caldwell finished the period with four goals in the final 3:14 for a 12-3 halftime lead.

The Golden Falcons produced three of the first four goals of the second half. Juvelier cut the Felician deficit to 13-6 with 22:39 to play. But the hosts could not sustain the attack. A Kassaleh tally with 14:53 to play made the score 16-6 and forced running time via NCAA rules, and the Cougars closed the game from that point.

Caldwell built up a 43-23 advantage in shots (26-13 in the first half) and committed 15 turnovers to Felician's 25. Felician junior goalkeeper Megan Euler (Toms River, N.J./Manchester Township) kept her team competitive with 15 saves, and senior teammate Christianna Louzan (Manchester, N.J./Manchester Township) registered her first two goals of the season. Freshman Mia Monacelli (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor Township) earned the victory in the cage for Caldwell with 10 saves.

Felician travels to Holy Family University for another CACC affair on Saturday.
