Box Score LYNDHURST, N.J. – The Felician University women's lacrosse team was defeated by visiting Caldwell University, 19-1, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action on Thursday afternoon at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.
Freshman midfielder Tala Marzooq (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) scored the Felician goal and led the hosts with three ground balls and five draw controls. Senior midfielder Samantha Murphy (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock) paced Caldwell (3-5, 3-2 CACC) with seven goals, one assists and eight draw controls.
Cougar graduate student Arden Kassaleh (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock) tallied 32 seconds into the action, and the visitors jumped out to a 4-0 lead after 5:08 had elapsed. Marzooq found the cage at the 23:37 mark of the opening period, but the Golden Falcons were held off the scoreboard for the rest of the day. Caldwell forced running time with an 11-1 edge with 5:24 left in the first and was up, 12-1, at halftime.
Caldwell outshot the Golden Falcons, 37-14, for the game. Cougar junior Mia Monacelli (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor Township) earned the victory in goal with seven saves. Kassaleh totaled six goals, one assist, and five draw controls and took over the CACC goal-scoring lead.
Felician freshman goalie Lauren Bain (Hamilton, Ontario/Bishop Ryan) stopped 11 shots. Classmate Janea Kelty (West Milford, N.J./St. Mary-Rutherford) picked up three ground balls.
Felician hosts first-place Thomas Jefferson University on Saturday at noon in Lyndhurst.
