Box Score LYNDHURST, N.J. – Thomas Jefferson University used 10 different goal scorers to earn a 21-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's lacrosse victory over host Felician University on Saturday afternoon at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. Jefferson (9-1, 6-0 CACC) is in first place in the CACC and is under consideration for an NCAA Division II playoff berth out of the Atlantic Region.
Felician freshman goalkeeper Lauren Bain (Hamilton, Ontario/Bishop Ryan) faced 44 shots. She made 14 saves and had team highs of five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Redshirt freshman Raquel Vilas (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick) netted the Golden Falcon goal.
Junior attack Lexi Patania (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) led a balanced Ram offense with five points on three goals and two assists. Jefferson freshman midfielder Erin Avanzato (Lake Grove, N.Y./Sachem North) produced a strong two-way effort with two goals, an assist, nine draw controls and five ground balls.
The Rams led, 5-0, after 11 minutes of play. With 7:00 remaining in the first half the margin reached the 10-0 running clock threshold, and two Avanzato scores in the closing minutes made it 12-0 at halftime. Felician avoided the shutout with 10:50 left in the contest when Vilas finished after taking a feed from behind the cage from Krista Cagno (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick).
Janea Kelty (West Milford, N.J./St. Mary-Rutherford) won three of the Golden Falcons' four draws. Teammate Amanda Ramirez (Manchester, N.J./Manchester Township) had two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Felician (0-5, 0-5) plays its fourth consecutive CACC home game when it welcomes Nyack College to Lyndhurst on Wednesday at noon.
