Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Felician University softball team lost non-conference games to two different East Region opponents during THE Spring Games on Sunday at DiamondPlex. Felician was defeated, 6-1, by Le Moyne College in its morning contest, before falling, 16-1, to Saint Michael's College on Sunday afternoon.
Freshman Victorie Leon (Sylmar, Calif.) hit her first collegiate home run versus Saint Michael's. Three Golden Falcons – Alexis Velotta (Menifee, Calif.), Daisha Howard (Westbury, N.Y.) and Johanna Rivera (Cliffside Park, N.J.) had a hit in each game.
On Sunday morning, Felician was the designated home team against Le Moyne and the squads were tied, 1-1, after four innings. The Dolphins moved ahead with two runs in the top of the fifth – recording the go-ahead tally a wild pitch – and pulled away with three more in the seventh. Le Moyne pitcher Laura Bennett (Corning, N.Y.) limited Felician to five hits and no walks while registering 10 strikeouts.
After tying the game on Howard's RBI single in the third, the Golden Falcons put just one runner on base over the final four innings. The Dolphins outhit Felician, 12-5.
Felician was meeting Saint Michael's for the first time. The Purple Knights, the home team, jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning, then took full control with an eight-run second. Leon hit a solo homer in the fourth, but SMC tacked on four more scores in the bottom half.
Six of Saint Michael's 14 hits went for extra bases, including three home runs. Pitcher Jackie Cherry (Franklin, Mass.) went the full five innings, yielding five hits.
Felician (1-3) is next in action on Tuesday in Winter Haven, facing two more regional foes – Pace University at 12:15 p.m. and Southern Connecticut State University at 2:30 p.m.
