Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University was defeated by visiting American International College, 20-2, in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Tuesday afternoon at Tryon Field. The Yellow Jackets and Golden Falcons were meeting for the first time.
Sophomore Janea Kelty (West Milford, N.J./St. Mary-Rutherford) had a goal and four draw controls and freshman Melissa Amezquita (Paterson, N.J./PCTI) also scored for Felician (1-4). Senior Molly Leavitt (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) led American International with five goals and added four ground balls.
AIC (2-2) was able to control possession for much of the contest. The Yellow Jackets held advantages in shots, 44-11, and ground balls, 33-13, while committing only 14 turnovers as compared to 26 for the Golden Falcons. The visitors led, 6-0 after one period and 9-1 at halftime. With 8:36 left in the third period, AIC forced the running clock by moving ahead 12-2, then continued to pull away.
Felician sophomore Alexis Lambertino (Hammonton, N.J./Sterling) was making her goalkeeping debut and was credited with 12 saves. She also led the Golden Falcons with five ground balls. Classmate Tala Marzooq (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) grabbed a team-high six draw controls.
AIC freshman Antonella Mikolyuk (Montreal, Quebec/William Aberhart) controlled 11 draws and was one of three Yellow Jackets to tally three goals and two assists.
Felician is home once again on Friday, entertaining Molloy College at noon in Rutherford.
