Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The University of Bridgeport jumped out to a 5-0 lead after five minutes of a eventual 21-4 non-conference women's lacrosse victory over host Felician University on Wednesday afternoon at Tryon Field.
Sophomore Janea Kelty (West Milford, N.J./St. Mary-Rutherford) had three goals and an assist and freshman Melissa Amezquita (Paterson, N.J./PCTI) also scored for Felician (1-2). Senior Danielle Kreitler (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) led Bridgeport with nine points on four goals and five assists.
The Purple Knights (2-0) scored 24 seconds after the opening draw and continue to successfully attack, leading, 9-2, after one period. Bridgeport was ahead, 14-4, at halftime, then held the Golden Falcons without a shot during the second half.
Senior Addison Plume (Glen Arm, Md./Eastern Technical) led all players with six goals and graduate student Shyla Murray (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) had five goals and an assist for Bridgeport. Defensively for Felician, Kelty added team highs of three ground balls and four draw controls to her ledger, while senior Amanda Ramirez (Manchester, N.J./Manchester Township) caused three turnovers.
Felician hosts Edinboro University on Tuesday, Mar. 8, at 11 a.m. in Rutherford.
