Box Score NEWARK, Del. – Felician University came up on the short end of a 22-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's lacrosse decision to host Wilmington (Del.) University on Saturday morning at the WU Athletics Complex.
Sophomore Nicole Jenal (Bethpage, N.Y.) and freshman Melissa Amezquita (Paterson, N.J.) scored for Felician (2-8, 1-3 CACC). Golden Falcon sophomore Tala Marzooq (Ewing, N.J.) picked up six draw controls.
Wilmington (8-3, 3-1) amassed advantages of 41-12 in shots and 20-8 in draw controls. Wildcat freshman Campbell Heller (Lancaster, Pa.) caged a game-high five goals plus an assist, and sophomore Amelie Gamache (Stewardstown, Pa.) topped the hosts with seven points – three goals and four assists – and three caused turnovers.
The Wildcats tallied the game's first nine goals before Jenal broke through for Felician with 34 seconds left in the opening period. With 11:16 to play until halftime, Wilmington moved ahead, 11-1, to force running time. The hosts were on top, 15-1, at halftime.
Felician senior Emileigh Esposito (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South) assisted on Amezquita's goal with 3:55 left in the contest.
Felician continues its CACC schedule by traveling to Waterbury, Conn., on Tuesday for a 3 p.m. contest at Post University.
