Box Score SPARKS, MD – Felician women's lacrosse was in Sparks, MD to face Alderson Broaddus for its opening day match up, Sunday morning. The Golden Falcons scored its most goals in program history during a game as they pulled out a 17-9 win over its opponents with a record broken for most Caused Turnovers in a game.
Tala Marzooq (Ewing, NJ) paced the Golden Falcon offense with 5 goals and Julia Ravazza (Dublin, CA) had 4. Amanda Ramirez (Manchester, NJ) broke the Felician Record for Most Caused Turnovers in a game with 8 in as she helped Felician pull out the opening day win.
In the first quarter, Raquel Vilas (East Brunswick, NJ) posted the first unassisted goal of the season while Felician held a one goal advantage over the Battlers, 3-2. The Golden Falcons eventually caged 7 more to extend to a 10-4 edge going into haltime.
Combined between the third and fourth quarter, the green-and-gold offensive charge toppled the Battlers as they closed out the contest with a Marzooq free position shot to finalize a 17-9 score in favor of Felician.
The Golden Falcons outshot Alderson Broaddus 59-13 and secured 27 ground balls compared to the Battlers 14.
Women's Lacrosse will be back in action on Feb. 25 at Tryon Field in Rutherford for its first home game of the season against Saint Rose at 11:00am.
