Box Score RUTHERFORD, NJ – Felician Women's Lacrosse (1-1) were toppled during a strong first half by the College of Saint Rose Golden Knights as they dropped 16-3 in its home opener at Tryon Field Saturday morning.
The Golden Falcons were outshot 30-7 in the contest. Saint Rose opened the afternoon with a goal 3 minutes into the first quarter. The visitors would go on to record eight more goals to go into the next fiftheen minutes with a 9-0 lead. The Golden Knights slowed the offense down during the second and possessed the ball majority of the half and caged four to enter halftime leading 13-0.
Felician's Tala Marzooq (Ewing, NJ) put the green-and-gold on the board with 2 goals in the third quarter as the Golden Falcons trailed 13-2. Two-minutes into the final stanza, Marzooq capped the final goal of the day for the hosts, but Saint Rose answered back with 3 more to run away with the 16-3 win.
Marzooq had 5 shots, 4 on goal, 2 ground balls and 2 draw controls. Kayla Fox (Surrey, British Columbia) led all Golden Falcon players with 3 ground balls.
The women's lacrosse team will be back in action on March 7th to host Lake Erie at 1:30pm.
