Box Score WINTER HAVEN, FL – Felician softball improved to over .500 with a 6-5 overall record after a two game sweep of Saint Rose College and Ferris State Saturday afternoon.
In the first game with the Golden Knights, Felician started off hot at the plate scoring six runs in the first inning. Daisha Howard (Westbury, NY) went 2-3 bringing in three runs while Kathryn Steinmetz (Chula Vista, CA) (one RBI), Vienna Chierchia (Manalapan, NJ), and Mikayla Brown (Las Vegas, NV) (2 RBI's) went 2-4 with one run each. Brown was in the circle for the Golden Falcons pitching 6.2 innings and only allowing seven hits while striking out four.
The Golden Falcons would go scoreless for the next two innings to ultimately score a run through the fourth and sixth inning to close out the morning with a 9-5 win.
Later in the day, Felician went up against Ferris State for game two where the Golden Falcons would take the 4-1 win. Johanna Rivera (Cliffside Park, NJ) would score the first run for the green-and-gold in the third inning after stealing home. The Golden Falcons would score in the fourth and in the fifth inning to hold the 4-0 lead over Ferris State. Its opponents would score in the bottom of the seventh, but Felician held off a rally to wrap up its second win.
Softball will be relieved from games until Monday, March 13, when they're back in action in Florida to face Lockhaven at 2:00pm and D'Youville at 4:30pm.
