Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN, FL – Felician Softball is in its final days in the Spring Games as they wrap up another two game contest with Lock Haven and D'Youville. In its respective games, the Golden Falcons were defeated twice 7-5 to the Bald Eagles and 7-6 after eight innings to D'Youville.
Game one with Lock Haven became a battle back. The Golden Falcons trailed 7-2 until in the bottom of the sixth when Daisha Howard (Westbury, NY) slammed a three-run homerun to cut the Bald Eagle lead to 2, 7-5. The green-and-gold had a final chance in the bottom of the seventh to tie or take the lead, but Lock Haven secured a three-up three-down inning to give Felician its first loss of the day.
Howard went 2-3 at the plate with one run and 3 RBI's while Kathryn Steinmetz (Chula Vista, CA) (one run) and Hannah Ramirez (Carson, CA) (two runs) also went 2-3.
During an eight-inning game two with D'Youville, the Golden Falcons saw its second loss after a bases loaded situation to ultimately give the Saints the 7-6 win.
After the fifth inning, the Saints held a 6-2 advantage over the Golden Falcons. Mia Martinez (Bronx, NY) (3-4) and Mariah Castellanos (Las Vegas, NV) (1-4) both clinched an RBI double in the sixth to chip away at the opposer lead. By the seventh inning, it was tied at 6 when Vienna Chierchia (Manalapan, NJ) (2-4) singled and Martinez posted another RBI double to send the game into extra innings. During that time, the Saints took advantage of the man on second sending her home on a walk to take the 7-6 win.
The Golden Falcons drop to 6-7 overall and will face UMary and Indiana (Pa.) on March 14 at 1:30pm and 3:45pm.
