Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN, FL – Felician Softball wraps up its trip to Florida with a two-game loss to Shepherd and Purdue Northwestern Thursday morning.
Game One:
In game one, the Golden Falcons faced off with Shepherd for a 9:00am start time. Throughout the contest, the Golden Falcons held a 8-3 until the Rams posted a three-run top of the fifth inning to trail by two.
By the seventh inning, the score remained 8-6. The Rams recorded a grand slam for a four-run inning to have the 10-8 advantage with the Golden Falcons holding last licks. The green-and-gold had one hit in its final chance, but dropped for the first game of the day.
Alexis Velotta (Manifee, CA) went 1-3 with two runs and a two RBI homerun while Mia Martinez (Bronx, NY) went 3-4 with two RBI's. Daisha Howard (2 runs) (Waterbury, NY), Kathryn Steinmetz (1 run/1 RBI) (Chula Vista, CA), and Vienna Chierchia (1 RBI) (Manalapan, NJ) went 2-4 at the plate.
Game Two:
In a low scoring game two, the Golden Falcons headed into its final Spring Games match-up with Purdue Northwest. With score tied at one, Steinmetz reached first on a throwing error that also sent home Velotta for the 2-1 lead.
The green-and-gold would remain scoreless for the remainder of the contest, while the Pride posted two-runs in the bottom of the sixth for the 3-2 advantage and ultimately the win.
Jaylene Sierra (Jersey City, NJ) and Chierchia (1 RBI) went 2-3 while Martinez and Hannah Ramirez (Carson, CA) went 1-3.
The Golden Falcons are coming back to Rutherford with an 8-9 record and will be hosting its home opener for its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match-up with Georgian Court (DH) for a 2:00pm start time.
