PALISADES PARK, NJ – Felician softball ends its Wednesday afternoon Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match-up with Caldwell University in a split decision. The green-and-gold captured the game one win, 4-2, in eight innings while the Cougars took game two, 3-1.

GAME ONE (8-innings):

The Golden Falcons secured its first run of the day in the bottom of the second when Caldwell posted a throwing error. Both teams remained scoreless until Caldwell recorded a run of their own in the sixth to tie at one.

Ultimately, the contest was pushed into an extra inning with the Cougars holding the 2-1 advantage after the top half of the eighth. Mia Martinez (Bronx, NY) singled to spark the rally for the hosts with two on the basepaths for Daisha Howard (Westbury, NY). The red-shirt junior slammed a walk off 3 RBI homerun for the 4-2 game one win.

Howard went 2-4 with three RBI's and a run while Vienna Chierchia (Manalapan, NJ) went 2-3 with one run. Riley Williams pitched 8.0 innings, with three strikeouts and two runs.

GAME TWO:

During the second contest, the Cougars held the Golden Falcons to one run to hand the hosts the 3-1 loss.

Within the top half of the second, Caldwell clinched three runs for the 3-0 advantage. By the fifth, Victorie Leon (Sylmar, CA) recorded an RBI to send home Mikayla Brown (Las Vegas, NV) for the Golden Falcons lone run of game two.

Alexis Velotta (Menifee, CA) went 2-3, Howard and Kathryn Steinmetz (Chula Vista, CA) went 1-3 each and Brown went 1-3 with one run.

Softball is now 24-13 overall and 12-4 in conference play. The Golden Falcons will be back at Palisades Park tomorrow for a 2:00pm start for a doubleheader with Georgian Court.
