Box Score 2 PHILADELPHIA, PA – Felician freshman pitcher, Riley Williams (Corona, CA) has become the fifth pitcher in program history to clinch a no-hitter in the game one win over Chestnut Hill Friday afternoon. Overall, the Golden Falcons split with the hosts.
GAME ONE (5 INNINGS):
Williams was in the circle for the green-and-gold where she pitched 5.0 innings to walk one and strike out six during the 9-0 win.
The Golden Falcons ran scoreless until the top half of the fourth inning where they piled on eight when Mikayla Brown (Las Vegas, NV), Johanna Rivera (River Edge, NJ), Alexis Velotta (Menifee, CA), Hannah Ramirez (Carson, CA) and Kathryn Steinmetz (Chula Vista, CA) recorded RBI at bats.
In the final inning, Felician posted one more run to secure the 9-0 five inning win to hand Williams her no hitter and her 14th win of the season.
Brown went 3-3 with one RBI, Madeline Layman (Meridian, Idaho) went 2-2, and Velotta finished 2-3 with two RBIs.
GAME TWO:
During game two, the Griffins tied the contest at one after three innings. The Golden Falcons rallied three when Rivera and Velotta singled to edge the Griffins 4-1.
Chestnut Hill battled back and propelled themselves to a 7-4 lead when they posted a six run fifth inning. The hosts held the Golden Falcons to just one lone run to hand the green-and-gold the game two loss.
Rivera finished the second contest going 2-4 with two RBIs while Daisha Howard (Westbury, NY) went 2-3 with 2 RBIs and Jaylene Sierra (Jersey City, NJ) went 3-3.
The softball squad is 25-16 overall and 13-7 in the CACC. They will be back at Palisades Park on April 16th to welcome Mercy College for a non-conference doubleheader starting at 2:00pm.
