Box Score RUTHERFORD, NJ – Freshman Julia Ravazza (Dublin, CA) caged seven goals against Caldwell University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match up Wednesday afternoon to set a Felician single game scoring record.
Both squads went into the event with a 2-9 overall and 1-6 CACC record. The Golden Falcons ultimately clinched the 19-12 win to improve.
Ravazza capped off the afternoon with seven goals on 12 shots and one assist and Tala Marzooq (Ewing, NJ) had five goals, one assist and nine draw controls. Saoirse O'Connor (Newport, RI) and Mary Gazaleh (East Windsor, NJ) recorded two goals apiece and O'Connor led the draw controls with ten.
At the end of the first quarter the Cougars held a 4-3 advantage over the Golden Falcons to then extend its advantage to 7-6 going into halftime. Ravazza clinched the go-ahead goal for the 8-7 lead while Marzooq and O'Connor caged one each for the 10-9 edge by the end of the third.
Ravazza recorded three consecutive goals within the 13-minute mark to propel the hosts to a 13-10 lead. Overall, the green-and-gold had a nine-goal final stanza for the 19-12 conference win.
Defensively for Felician, Kayla Fox (Surrey, British Columbia) posted three caused turnovers with two ground balls and Amanda Ramirez (three ground balls) (Manchester, NJ) and Mackenzie Fox (Surrey, British Columbia) had two caused turnovers. Ilyanna Rivera (Waterford, CT) was in goal for the green-and-gold where she captured the win facing 23 shots and saving 11 of them.
The Golden Falcons improved to 3-9 overall and 2-6 in the CACC. They will be back in action this weekend to host Jefferson University at Riggins Memorial Field in East Rutherford, NJ for a 3:30pm start.
