Box Score 2 PALISADES PARK, NJ – Felician Softball hosted its senior day to honor five seniors on their careers prior to the start of a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader versus Jefferson University at Palisades Park Saturday afternoon. Vienna Chierchia (Manalapan, NJ), Johanna Rivera (Cliffside Park, NJ), Jaylene Sierra (Jersey City, NJ) and Alexis De La Cruz (San Jacinto, CA) were among the seniors highlighted.
GAME ONE:
Daisha Howard (Westbury, NY) captured an inside the park home run for two runs to ignite the first inning. Mia Martinez (Bronx, NY) posted the third run to hold a 3-0 advantage. The Rams were able to record two runs to trail the green-and-gold by one until they eventually tied it at three with a run in the top half of the fifth.
Chierchia sent home two runs to propel the Golden Falcons to a 5-3 lead going into the final two innings. Despite Felician surrendering one more run to hold off the Rams, the Golden Falcons captured the 5-4 game one victory.
Chierchia led the way with 2-3 with two RBIs and Hannah Ramirez (Carson, CA) went 2-3 with one run. De La Cruz captured the win from the circle with 7.0 IP with one strikeout.
GAME TWO:
A heavy hitting fifth inning handed Felician the game two shut out win. Alexis Velotta (Menifee, CA) came in with a clutch 2 RBI single through the right sight to spark the winning inning for the green-and-gold. Howard added onto the inning with a 3 RBI single to cap off the inning with a 5-0 advantage.
Both teams would go the next few innings scoreless as Felician snagged the game two win to the CACC doubleheader sweep.
Riley Williams (Corona, CA) recorded her 4th shutout of the season with 7.0 IP and five strikeouts. Howard paced the offense with three RBI's and Velotta had two.
The Golden Falcons improved to 31-16 overall and 15-7 in the CACC. They will be back in action for its final match-up of the season against Bloomfield College on Wednesday at 3:00pm
