Box Score 2 PALISADES PARK, NJ – Felician softball hosted its final home game of the regular season against Bloomfield College at Palisades Park, NJ Wednesday afternoon. The Golden Falcons made a intense comeback in the bottom of the ninth inning during game one, but fell short 6-5, and lost game two 3-1.
GAME ONE:
Daisha Howard (Westbury, NY) immediately put the Golden Falcons on top with a homerun into left field to kick off the afternoon. However, the hosts ran cold as the Bears lit up with four runs in the second and two more in the sixth to hold a 6-1 advantage.
In the bottom half of the seventh, the Golden Falcons rallied four runs with no outs in an attempt to chip away at the opposer lead. Johanna Rivera (Cliffside Park, NJ) brought in the first run on a bunt while Alexis Velotta (Menifee, CA) slammed a 2 RBI triple to ultimately be sent home by Hannah Ramirez (Carson, CA), 6-5.
After Velotta stepped on home, the Bears forced back-to-back outs to hand Felician the 6-5 loss.
Velotta (2 RBIs), Ramirez (1 RBI), and Howard (1 RBI) went 2-4 during the game one contest.
GAME TWO:
The Bears took no time to take the 2-0 lead during the top half of the first inning in the second contest. They would eventually record its final run of the day in the third, 3-0.
Vienna Chierchia (Manalapan, NJ) posted an RBI double for the lone green-and-gold run, but the squad could not edge the Bears as both teams went scoreless for the remainder of the game.
Velotta went 2-4 once again while Mia Martinez (Bronx, NY) went 2-3.
The Golden Falcons capped off a record-breaking regular season with a 31-18 overall and 15-9 CACC record. The softball squad qualified for playoffs but are still waiting for a locked in seeding as there is a three-way tie between Felician, Georgian Court, and the University of Bridgeport. The play-in games will be held this Saturday, April 29th, with the higher seed hosting. Stay tuned!!
