Box Score WILMINGTON, DEL – Felician softball ignited a four-game win streak with a doubleheader win over Goldey-Beacom Monday afternoon.
GAME ONE (9 Innings):
The Golden Falcons battled in game one through nine innings to record six in the final outing to secure the 6-0 win. Riley Williams (Corona, CA) earned the shutout as she pitched a full game while surrendering only two hits and striking out three.
Both squads were scoreless through seven innings until the Golden Falcons came alive in the ninth. With runners in scoring position, the green-and-gold scored two on a sac bunt by Johanna Rivera (Cliffside Park, NJ) and after a few passed balls and wild pitches, Felician recorded four more for the 6-0 win.
GAME TWO:
Felician took the game one momentum into game two when they sparked the first inning of game two with four runs. Alexis Velotta (Menifee, CA) slammed a homerun, her sixth of the season, to push the green-and-gold to a 5-0 advantage over the hosts.
The Lightening fought back and trailed the Golden Falcons 5-4 after five innings. By the top of the seventh, Velotta posted a two RBI double as Mikayla Brown (Las Vegas, NV) and Mia Martinez (Bronx, NY) scored to give Felician two more for the 7-5 victory.
Velotta went 4-5 with three RBIs and two runs while Daisha Howard (Westbury, NY), Vienna Chierchia (Manalapan, NJ), and Martinez went 2-4 with a run each.
The softball squad is now 18-11 and 6-2 in the CACC. The Golden Falcons will be back in action Tuesday morning at Palisades Park for another conference doubleheader to host Alliance University starting at 11:00am.
