Felician Wins Six Straight After Dual Victory Over Alliance

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

PALISADES, NJ – Felician softball (20-11/8-2 CACC) strides on a six-game win streak after a doubleheader Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win over Alliance University, 10-5 and 14-6.

GAME ONE:

During the game one contest, Alexis Velotta (Menifee, CA) recorded her 100th career hit. After the Golden Falcons posted two runs in the bottom second, Alliance answered back with two of their own to tie. By the bottom of the fifth, the green-and-gold slowly started to pull away with a five-run inning sparked by a Mikayla Brown (Las Vegas, NV) 2 RBI single, 4-2.

Johanna Rivera (Cliffside Park, NJ) would keep the hosts alive with a two-out RBI single to send home Brown. When Velotta doubled and Hannah Ramirez (Carson, CA) singled, the Golden Falcons saw themselves with a 7-2 advantage.

The lead would eventually become extended 10-4, until Alliance slammed a homerun to give them a second life in an attempt to chip away at the lead. However, the Golden Falcons clinched the final out to record its first win of the afternoon.

Brown went 3-3 with two runs and two RBIs while Velotta (2 RBIs) and Vienna Chierchia (2 runs) (Manalapan, NJ) went 3-4. Riley William (Corona, CA) closed out her 11th win of the season with 7.0 innings pitched, five runs and five strikeouts.

GAME TWO (5-innings):

Leading up to game two, the Golden Falcons were on top quick after a six run first inning. Daisha Howard (Westbury, NY) clinched a RBI triple and Mia Martinez (Bronx, NY) recorded a 3 RBI double to have the 5-0 lead with no outs. By the time Alliance posted the second out, Rivera's RBI single sent home Martinez for the final run of the inning, 6-0.

The Golden Falcons recorded runs within the next two innings to hold a 13-2 lead over its opposers. Alliance sneaked past the mercy rule with a four run fifth inning, but couldn't hold off the winning run when Kathryn Steinmetz (Chula Vista, CA) scored on a Martinez SAC.

Martinez went 3-3 with two runs and five RBIs and Jaylene Sierra (Jersey City, NJ) also went 3-3 with two runs. Alexis De La Cruz (San Jacinto, CA) was in the circle during the win with 5.0 innings pitched to allow six runs, one walk and had two strikeouts.

The Golden Falcons look to continue their win streak at the University of Bridgeport on Thursday for another CACC doubleheader at 2:30pm.
