Box Score 2 WATERBURY, CT – Felician Softball secured the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader win over Post University, 6-1 and 6-3, in Waterbury, CT Saturday afternoon.
GAME ONE:
The Golden Falcons combined their six runs in the first and second inning to remain scoreless for the rest of the first contest. Daisha Howard (Westbury, NY) and Vienna Chierchia (Manalapan, NJ) scored the first two of the afternoon on an Eagles error.
In the top of the second, Hannah Ramirez (Carson, CA) clinched a 3 RBI double for the 5-0 advantage over the hosts. Ramirez was soon sent home by Howard's RBI single into left field to extend its lead to 6-0.
Riley Williams (Corona, CA) appeared in the circle for 7.0 innings with five strikeouts and only surrendered four hits. While Williams only allowed one run in the bottom of the seventh inning, the freshman clinched her 12th win of the season for a 12-6 record.
Ramirez led the charge going 2-3 with three RBIs and one run and Mikayla Brown (Las Vegas, NV) went 2-3 with one run. Alexis Velotta (Menifee, CA) went 1-3 with two runs and Howard was 1-4 with one run and one RBI.
GAME TWO:
In the first inning of game two, the Eagles got on the board first with two runs and held off the Golden Falcons until the fourth.
Kathryn Steinmetz (Chula Vista, CA) ignited the green-and-gold offense with an RBI single to give Felician its first run of the second contest. The Golden Falcons clinched three more by a Victorie Leon (Sylmar, CA) RBI at bat and another Post fielding error.
Ultimately, Felician posted two more runs to close out the afternoon with the 6-3 game two and doubleheader win.
Howard was 3-4 with one run and a RBI while Jaylene Sierra (Jersey City, NJ) went 2-4 with one run. Steinmetz and Velotta went 2-4 with one run and one RBI.
The Golden Falcons are now 23-12 overall and 11-3 in the CACC. They return to Palisades Park on Monday, April 10, to host Molloy University for a doubleheader starting at 11:00am.
