Athletics Announces its 2023-24 Softball Coaches

RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Felician Athletics and the Director of Athletics, Andrew Toriello, announces the hiring of a softball coaching duo, Phil Delgado, and Jim Gleason, Wednesday morning.

Delgado, a William Paterson graduate ('05), comes to Felician from Bloomfield College of Montclair State University where he was the head coach of the Bears Softball program for five years. During his time, he has made three consecutive appearances in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament and made a memorable run in 2021 when his squad knocked off the #2 and #3 seeds to make a Championship appearance.

The new head coach of the Golden Falcons began his coaching career at Bloomfield where he was the assistant coach from 2004-08. Since then, he's coached at Montclair (2014-16) and Morristown Beard (2013-14) High School and was even the assistant varsity coach for the football team at Millburn High School in 2012-13.

Delgado has been the owner and operator of Prodigy Training Sports Facility since 2011. He has traveled across the nation as an expert in hitting instruction and has been a guest speaker at various softball camps and clinics.

Joining Delgado as an assistant coach is Jim Gleason. Much like Phil, Gleason, a Hazlet, N.J. native, brings a great deal of experience to the table for the Golden Falcons. He has over 15 years of experience in fast pitch softball from coaching at Division I Monmouth University to NJCAA Brookdale College and several other years of travel ball coaching. Additionally, he has been the director of travel organizations while participating on a nationally ranked men's fast pitch team.

"I'm excited and thankful about the opportunity that Phil and Andrew have given me", Gleason praised. "I can't wait to get started and build towards the high level that Felician softball will be!"
