Waterbury, CT. - The Felician Unviersity baseball team earned a split in its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader against Post University on Friday.
Game One
Felician pounded out 19 hits and scored in six different innings to roll past Post University, 12-5. The Golden Falcons struck for four runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back. Junior third baseman
Ernesto Polanco led the offensive charge, going 3-for-5 with four RBIs, including a two-run double in the seventh that extended Felician's lead.
Max Weber picked up the win on the mound, tossing five innings and allowing four earned runs on six hits while striking out six.
Nathan Ruth earned his first save of the season with four solid innings of relief, giving up just two hits and one run while striking out six. Felician's first inning outburst featured an RBI double by
Chris Corchado, a run-scoring groundout from
Anthony Lamar, an RBI triple by
Haiden Walters, and an RBI single by Polanco. Walters and Matt Scrivanic also recorded three hits apiece. Scrivanic added a solo home run in the sixth, his first of the season.Â
Game Two
Despite a late-game rally, Felician fell short in game two, 3-4. Felician tallied three runs in the top of the sixth to erase a 3-0 deficit and tie the game. However, the host Eagles responded in the home half of the seventh with a walk-off single to split the doubleheader. The Golden Falcons racked up 10 hits and showed resilience at the plate, highlighted by
Jose David Medrano's three-run triple in the sixth.
Jaxson Wall finished 2-for-3 with a walk, hit-by-pitch, and a double to spark the top of the lineup, while
Chris Corchado and Rocko Brezezniak each added two hits. Felician starter
Sadier Vicioso gave the team four solid innings, allowing just one earned run on three hits while striking out three.
Kyle Bednarski was charged with the loss after allowing two runs on four hits over the final two frames. Teh Golden Falcons were unable to capitalize, including three Post errors and two runners on in the seventh.Â
